To another blog post that I have been so excited to share with you guys. So as part of the Summer learning Journey are activity was to Where does your family come from? What is important or special to you and your family? What language do you speak? Please check out my explanation
I am Tongan but kiwi born and it is challenging sometimes speaking Tongan. As been raised in New Zealand My family still speaks Tongan. I know some of you guys are like why do you speak Tongan if you don´t want to. As a matter fact my parents are strict with speaking my culture language. As a family we think we should keep the language going. That because maybe some day some you can lose your language. In my opinion I also think that it is important to speak because your identity and can strengthen ties with family members. Please remember to speak your language.
Thanks for reading my explanation and hope you enjoyed my explanation.

ReplyDeleteI am Kueni and I’m working as a blog commenter on the Summer Learning Journey this summer working with the Ako Hiko cluster. Have you done the Summer Learning Journey before? I’m looking forward to reading your posts and the other bloggers' posts from the Ako Hiko cluster, over the next few weeks.
I really enjoyed reading your blog post about your culture and learning about where you and your family come from. Thank you for sharing your personal beliefs around your culture and for sharing your opinion in relation to how speaking your cultural language is connected to identity.
I like how you expressed the importance of your Tongan language and how important it is, not only to your family but also to you. I am also Tongan and wish my parents too encouraged the language during my upbringing but I also try and learn some of the language myself now that I am older, maybe you can teach me some too!
I look forward to reading more of your blog posts this summer and hope you jump on the summer learning journey with us!
Kueni
